Back from a truly inspiring and insightful autumn conference in Porto on October 10, we have started to develop our programme for next year ...

Here are some key thoughts on which we will build the conference programme for our spring conference in Helsinki: 

• Think slowly, design quickly. The challenge of stressful times, contrary to good design practice, forces us to execute ever more quickly. Thought, as the true value behind a proposal, should not be compressed.  

• Connecting chaos. The world is changing in an extreme and frenetic way. Designers, as translators of emotions, sensibilities and cultures, have a responsibility to give products a comprehensible message amid the external noise. Maintaining emotion and balance between disruption and timelessness are major challenges of our time.

• Originality in times of excess. A globalised world and overexposure to the media pose an enormous challenge for design. How can we overcome trends and expectations without falling into common territory, how can we ensure that an execution is original in a world of global creators?
