epda Member MABA from Spain submitted 2 concepts to the epda Label Design Challenge for each of the categories: Candle and Spirit. Let us present you the two of them that got nominated and finally were among the final winners!
“Light & Spirit” was the overarching leitmotif of the challenge. The designs were tasked with conveying the idea that every light - whether small or grand - can create a ripple of hope. Click here if you want to learn more about the design brief.
CANDLE CATEGORY: 1st PLACE — Hold your light, Estudio MABA

"HOLD YOUR LIGHT embodies the essence of charity and human care. Inspired by the Order of Malta's vital aid, the design visualizes light not merely as illumination, but as profound human warmth. The central figure tenderly embracing the sun symbolizes a vulnerable soul finding refuge in this compassionate embrace. The surrounding fig tree offers a natural sanctuary, rooting the concept in the nurturing power of nature. This packaging illustrates that charity is the act of sheltering another—physically and spiritually. It is a powerful emblem of protection, comfort, and the enduring warmth of kindness amidst the darkness."
SPIRIT CATEGORY: 3rd PLACE - RIPPLES, Estudio MABA

"This design interprets Light & Spirit through the organic expansion of ripples, symbolizing how a single act of generosity radiates outward with lasting impact. Inspired by the message, “Every light, small or grand, creates a ripple of hope,” the composition evokes movement, diffusion, and human connection. The heart-shaped label reinforces compassion and humanitarian commitment, central to the Order of Malta. Gold finishes and light-reactive details enhance the interplay between shadow and illumination, embodying both spiritual depth and prestige. As Armagnac represents strength and endurance, this edition honors those whose generosity carries light into the world and sustains hope beyond the moment."
