"Light as Hope"

epda Member lielens from Belgium submitted 2 concepts to the epda Label Design Challenge for each of the categories: Candle and Spirit. Let us present you the concept that got nominated and finally was among the final winners!

"Light & Spirit” was the overarching leitmotif of the challenge. The designs were tasked with conveying the idea that every light - whether small or grand - can create a ripple of hope. Click here if you want to learn more about the design brief.

CANDLE CATEGORY: 3rd PLACE — Light as Hope, lielens

Inspired by the light found in church stained glass, this concept draws on how colored windows turn daylight into atmosphere, warmth and quiet reflection. In churches, light creates a sense of hope and presence. That same principle guides this design.

A structured, geometric composition references traditional leaded panes, forming a contemporary typographic grid shaped by beams of light. Transparent, metallic and embossed elements interact to create depth and subtle reflections, like light moving across glass.

For the candle, the effect enhances the natural glow of the flame. For the Armagnac, layered tones and refined finishes express inner warmth and character. Together, Light and Spirit become a visible expression of hope.
