1. Highlight of being a member of EPDA? "Describe a key experience or moment of truth you experienced as a member of the EPDA community"
It is not just a membership of any organization. It is truly being part of a family of like-minded people, being able to share thoughts and inspiration about the thing we all love: design.
2. Design Inspiration? "Who is your biggest reference or inspiration in design?"
The people I worked with during my 16-year design agency career prior to FroQ brandservices. I still do miss them but I'm very fortunate to meet them frequently, both professional and private.
And the world. Experiences during my travels. Visiting other countries and cultures, meeting people and of course nature. It is amazing how beautiful nature can be. Whether it is looking at Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) in Iceland, watching colours and patterns of flora & fauna during scuba diving or observing Orcas (killer whales) from a kayak in Canada. It frees my mind and feeds my inspiration.
3. Favorite Creative Tool or Design Gadget? "What/who is your “can’t live without it – thing” when it comes to design? Be it software, technical device, design trash .."
Technical device: my camera and my iPhone. But they are useless without having great experiences and meeting interesting people.
4. Fun Fact? "Share a fun fact about yourself that most people don't know."
Really like to challenge Patrick from Quatre Mains and play dishwasher Tetris together 😉 I always like to put things in the way I think they should be. At home they often think I’m nuts when I move things again. But I also do this in the office and in the shelves of a store. Maybe a little bit autistic…
And I’m goalkeeper of my field hockey team. Having ruined my right knee during my running and hockey career, I’m happy still being able to be of any use of my team.
5. Hobby or Interest? "What are some of your favorite hobbies or interests outside of design?”
Traveling! Earlier this year I went to Japan together with my son. Both the destination and being able to do this together with my 19-year-old son: amazing experience. And, of course, my Australian Shepherd dog, Moos. Unconditional love and trust.
6. What is your favourite colour combination and why?
Blue/blue. Any shade of this colour makes me feel comfortable. And red/white if we talk football. Ajax!
