It's all about people: Meet Helle Dollerup

"Colours behave differently depending on the medium, purpose, and moment in time."

Our MEET US series has brought us to the northern part of Europe. We are proud to count Cameleon Creatives among our members. Enjoy reading our interview with Helle Dollerup, Creative Director, Trendspotter and Owner at Cameleon Creatives A/S:

1. Highlight of being a member of EPDA?

"Describe a key experience or moment of truth you experienced as a member of the EPDA community" “Becoming a member of EPDA marks an exciting step for our agency. We look forward to the creative inspiration, sharing knowledge, and building collaborations across borders. The conference in Hamburg was our first as part of the EPDA community — and we’ve already met so many great and talented people.”

2. Design Inspiration?

"Who is your biggest reference or inspiration in design?" I don’t rely on a single source of inspiration. Like our namesake, the chameleon, I keep my eyes open in all directions—constantly observing people, cultural shifts, and emerging trends. This broad perspective helps me design packagings for the FMCG market that resonates with how the world is changing.

3. Favorite Creative Tool or Design Gadget?

"What is your “can’t live without it – thing” when it comes to design? Be it software, technical device, design trash .." I can’t live without my camera/phone. It helps me capture everyday inspiration—on shelves, in streets, or halfway through lunch. Because great design for me often starts with observing real people, in real life, doing real things.

4. Fun Fact?

"Share a fun fact about yourself that most people don't know." I have three kidneys. Not exactly a party trick—but definitely a conversation starter.I haven’t figured out what to do with the spare one yet—but I like the idea of having a built-in backup.

5. Hobby or Interest?

"What are some of your favorite hobbies or interests outside of design?” Outside of work, I love to travel (especially in Spain), play the piano (just for fun), make linocut prints (when time allows) and listening to jazz. I’m passionate about food—preferably the kind you enjoy in laid-back, local spots with a good vibe. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just tasty, and served in a place where you want to linger and watch the world go by.

6. What is your favourite colour combination and why?

I don’t really have one favourite—it always depends on the context. Colours behave differently depending on the medium, purpose, and moment in time. For example, I love yellow in graphic design—it’s full of energy and works beautifully with black and white. But I’m not a fan of yellow flowers at all. That pretty much sums up how my favourites shift depending on where and how colours appear.
