Do you love finding a brand that speaks to you? Admiring its beauty and brand integrity? Discovering products that resonate with you on a personal level, providing a sense of connection and trust?⁣

Whether it's through typography, hand-drawn details, unique packaging shapes and hand-crafted finishes, these personalized touches enhance the connection between brands and their customers. ⁣

From designing luxury embossed candy tins for Williams Sonoma’s holiday collection to curating a collection of craft cocktail mixers, my journey as a packaging designer is driven by a genuine love for the art. I strive to blend simplicity, class, and a touch of retro charm, while ensuring each project reflects the unique essence of the brand.⁣

I am a creative and a perfectionist, passionate about the food and beverage industry. When i’m not designing, you’ll find me sipping on a café con leche or zurito (small beer) at the local bar in the Basque Country or browsing the shelves of specialty grocery stores and curiosity shops, drawing inspiration from the craftsmanship and attention to detail found in artisanal products.

I just love that the EPDA brings like-minded creatives together from Europe and beyond. Gathering in beautiful locations and providing a sense of connection and community. It’s a safe space where we can freely exchange ideas and support one another while learning about the latest developments in the branding and packaging design industry. Being part of this collective and sharing a common language makes it easy to connect, make friends and feel inspired. I’m so happy to have joined such a lovely group of people!

The Williams Sonoma brand was created in 1956 by Chuck Williams of Sonoma, California. The brand started as a specialty shop selling French cookware, such as Le Creuset, in the US. It’s history, legacy, artisanal flavors and culinary experiences are what set it apart from other kitchen brands. Many of their food products, like jams, sauces and baking mixes are inspired by timeless recipes and crafted with a focus on authenticity and quality. When they called for a new line of craft cocktail mixers and ingredients, I jumped at the opportunity as I’ve always had an affinity for alcohol packaging design. If you know me you know that I love chic foil finishes and hand-drawn details. The serif typography was inspired from the bars of the Prohibition era, evoking a sense of vintage charm, mystery, and sophistication. As a result of its success, the brand expanded its offerings to include a diverse array of cocktail accessories, from artisanal bitters to premium cocktail cherries, enhancing the overall cocktail experience for Williams Sonoma customers.

As the holidays bring us all together, we gather around and exchange gifts, sing songs, reflect on the past year and think about what the new year will bring. What better way to celebrate than to share a holiday cocktail together! This project stands as one of my all-time favorites, as it combines a sense of sophisticated whimsy in both the names and playful design. I spent many hours perfecting the ornate typography that highlights the unique character of each flavor within the collection. The brand had never sold festive cocktail mixers before and I'm thrilled with how they turned out. Adding an arch to the top of the basic straight label dieline also created a bit more visual interest. Now in its sixth year, I'm proud to say that the collection continues to grow with each passing season, most recently launching a line of tinned snack mixes.

King St Baking Co Cake Mixes

King St Baking Co. is located in New York and is owned by sisters Christina and Olivia Guidera. They contacted me to work together on a packaging design for a brand new line of baking mixes. Having sold premade baked goods in specialty grocery stores and various cafes throughout the New York area, they wanted to expand their business to include ready-to-bake mixes. I art-directed the photography, giving each box a showstopping image to really stand out on the shelf. I put together a very detailed visual packet for the photographer and food stylist and art directed the shoot from Spain to New York via zoom. The results were outstanding! I especially love the frosting photography as it was an original idea I had to display frosting in a different, more playful way than what exists in the market today. So far it’s very successful and being distributed across specialty grocery stores throughout the US.⁣

A quote from Christina & Olivia:⁣
"We hired Shayna to do a full design of our baking mixes after seeing some of the incredible work she had done for other brands. She went above and beyond in every way - from designing our packaging, managing the packaging project from start to finish, sourcing manufacturers, directing photoshoots, managing photo editing to make sure everything was done perfectly, copywriting, the list goes on and on. She has such an amazing eye for design and detail and is her work is meticulous. We get so much amazing feedback on our packaging design. She is the best money we have spent in launching our products and we would highly recommend her for anyone who needs help with anything from design and beyond. She always exceeds expectations and offers so much support along the way. She is the best!!!"
