As Chief Executive of the UK Design Business Association, Deborah works on behalf of the design industry to champion the tangible and measurable impact of design in business and the public sector, nationally and internationally. Established in 1986 by the design industry for the design industry, the DBA has tripled in turnover and members during her tenure, making it one of Europe’s largest design representative organisations. Her passion for design as a strategic tool that boardrooms must recognise, and her experience of the UK’s diverse and competitive design sector, enable her to lead the DBA as it works tirelessly to build universal confidence in design investment and support the design industry to deliver on this promise. The world-renown DBA Design Effectiveness Awards are just one example of how the DBA goes about gathering the evidence it needs to make the case for design in society. Deborah sits on the board of a number of industry and government bodies influencing policy and the profile of the sector. She headlines and chairs international conferences and events regularly. She writes things down less frequently preferring to draw a picture, a skill she fine-tuned while studying industrial design at university. She lives with her husband in London and has in the last few years developed a passion for gardening with a particular focus on anything edible, satisfying another passion, cooking.

Jens and Simone both studied Food Innovation at the HAS University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Jens specialized in creative food concept design, Simone in food packaging design. Both gained international experience during internships: Simone in Ecuador and Jens in South Africa, during which time they both developed a keen interest in sustainability and the impact of developments in food and packaging. In the year of their graduation Jens and Simone joined forces and founded People of Tomorrow, an agency devoted to developing creative concepts and offering consulting services in sustainable food and packaging design. It was important to them to place sustainability at the core of their product activities and to raise awareness and a sense of responsibility across the whole process chain.
“We consider sustainability to be a responsibility, a responsibility towards the planet, all its inhabitants and future generations to come.” During 2019 they have helped to green-up various companies, for instance with projects at the Greyston Bakery, Willycroft Plant Based Cheese and BeefyGreen. They have also held some inspiring sessions and workshops addressing the importance and urgency of sustainability within different organizations. Despite the seriousness of their mission, Jens and Simone imbue all their activities and projects with fun and they take every opportunity to help other companies achieve their goals in sustainability. Let’s start the Sustainable Design Revolution for a better tomorrow!
