Love is back in the air and the packaging industry is certainly feeling it. With Valentine’s Day sparking another bump in gift buying, all sorts of companies are giving their products a holiday-appropriate makeover.
Here are 10 of our favourite packaging designs for Valentine’s Day 2020:
- Smith & Sinclair
Creators of unusual confectionary and alcohol treats Smith & Sinclair has updated its alcoholic cocktail gummies for Valentine’s Day. The brand has launched a series of fun cardboard sleeves which can be used to cover the usual gummies box. We love the bright, bold graphics and fun phrasing. The underside of each sleeve can also be used to write a personal gift message.
- Chêne Bleu
We love this gorgeous 3D gift box from winery Chêne Bleu. The theatre-style pop-up tells the story of star-crossed lovers Abélard and Héloïse, while also making the brand’s wine the star of the show. There’s also a fab secret drawer within the box designed for keepsakes or love letters. The packaging can be personalised with a recipient’s name, and even lit inside if requested.
- Lush Joy Ride
Lush always manages to do a great job with its packaging – when it has some – and its 2020 Valentine’s offering is no exception. We love this fabulous gift holder with its fun graphic and smart design. Shoppers can choose three products to sit inside the specially created slots to make an eye-catching gift. The holder can be reused making it a sustainable option.
- Heinz x Fortnum and Mason
Here’s an odd one for you – Fortnum and Mason have teamed up with Heinz to create a limited-edition tomato ketchup flavoured chocolate truffle. Yes, you read that right. It’s not just the flavour that caught our eye though. The heart-shaped packaging is a wonderful mix of the two brand’s heritage from the Fortnum & Mason signature green to Heinz’s label shape. The unusual combination is limited to just 1,000 boxes.
- Byredo Unnamed
In celebration of Valentine’s Day Byredo has relaunched a limited edition of its no-named fragrance. The bottle is a simple, but elegant shape and features a plain white label. It comes with a set of letters in different colours – black, fluorescent blue, green and pink – so that buyers can choose their own name for the scent. It’s the perfect option for a personalised gift for the one you love.
- Hourglass
Hourglass is famed for its elegant refillable lipsticks. For this limited-edition Confession set, two exclusive shades are housed in a sleek gift box. A gold sleeve matches the gold applicators of the lipsticks. Underneath is a striking dual-coloured box of pink and red. We especially love the central heart cut-out which adds an element of visual interest.
- Tom Ford
This new perfume release from Tom Ford arrives just in time for Valentine’s Day. And why not when it combines all the hallmarks of the holiday – roses and the colour pink? Rose Prick is inspired by Tom Ford’s own garden and comes packaged in a sleek matte pink bottle. The colour is the perfect eye-catching millennial shade and guaranteed to stand out against other options on the shelf. It also lends itself well to the perfect Instagram shot.
- Boy Smells
The cute packaging of these limited-edition candle scents from Boy Smells make for perfect gifts. For its Valentine’s range Boy Smells has moved away from its traditional pink cartons to a striped motif. The three colours match the different candle colours inside. We like how Boy Smells has used its traditional pink colour for the label though to maintain brand recognition.
- Sugary Cosmetics
Sugary Cosmetics has launched a whole heart-themed Valentine’s range, but what caught our eye was the way it packaged its false lashes. Each set come in a cute heart shaped box that is modelled on a well-known heart shaped conversational sweet. There are three different slogans and colours available. The packaging isn’t just cute, but also functional with the lashes and glue securely held inside.
- diptyque
This limited-edition release seems like the perfect Valentine’s Day fit. A celebration of Paris, the Paris En Fleur scent is all about roses. The packaging perfectly communicates this with its gorgeous rose pattern. This carries through to the candle itself to make a cohesive unboxing experience. It’s the perfect mix of eye-catching and elegant packaging.
